This is my lovely friend Nadia.  We went down to Summerville beach a while back so I could practice some portrait work.  I ended up with more photos that I liked than I would have expected.  I also brought along my friend/"assistant" to hold the reflector for the shoot.  All my shots of her are 100% natty light with a reflector for fill.  I couldn't have asked for better conditions that night as I ended up with lots of warm, rather diffused light.  All in all a great night, and we all got to share a few beers and watch the sunset.

This is my meal from churis... they are a small nieghborhood restaurant in Sea Breeze that used to be a ice cream parlor. The place only has about 6 tables and they serve authentic thai food. And i just love this place.

I havent shot too much lately, but I went out last night with my friend Nadia down to the beach. Here are the results.

Red Sun

Taken at 300mm. I usually like to stay wide for landscapes and sunsets, but the rest of the sky was bland and the color was really concentrated to just a few degrees up from the horizon. Plus, I loved how the edges of the clouds are bright like they are, which is something you don't get everyday and wouldn't have shown in a wide shot.

And just below where the sun is setting is the beach where i take my daily run.

Vaseline Filter

This image was taken by using a vaseline filter, which for those who haven't heard of it is exactly what it sounds like.

I used an old scratched up UV filter and spread a very thin layer of vaseline onto it, then went out and shot. It works best on highly contrasted images and scenes with clearly defined shapes, like this one....silhouetted trees against the sunset.

The skin is tinted blue because of the color cast of a heat lamp only a couple inches overhead
